Hey blog it's me again! Today My partner and I will be coming up with an idea for our short film. Here are our two pitches. A teenager is hired to babysit. The child tries to warn her about evil within the house , however, the evil is the parents who hired her   A strange guest shows up to a private dinner. The guest is creepy and knows the secrets of all the other guests.   Both my partner and I are extremely interested in using the first pitch. The idea is not too complicated and could be done . It would also be a horror short, which could be super fun. We could experiment with different lighting, acting, and props. This idea is simple yet surprising, which would make it perfect for our short!   The second pitch is less exciting for us. Hey blog! It's me again. Today I will be discussing the genre of my short film. My partner and I decided to do horror as our genre because of the deep and thrilling experience it brings to the audience. The horror genre is very unique where you can build and add tension. It is a way to explore the genre and learn more about it. My partner and I also chose to do horror because we both enjoy watching horror movies, we have seen many films that we had many ideas to lead off of. That's it for today blog! The mood it creates really fits the horror genre.  Elements I didn't enjoy very much were the close-up shots however they serve a very valuable purpose in the storytelling and mood.      Hey, blog! It's me again! Today, I’m continuing my research by watching a video on how to make a short film! The video provides a step-by-step guide to the filmmaking process from beginning to end. I’ll share my key insights and how I plan to apply them to my project.      I found the video to be extremely helpful. It covered both the technical and creative aspects of making a short film. One key point it emphasized was the importance of focusing on a single core concept instead of trying to fit too much into a short film. I plan to keep this in mind during my own project and avoid overcomplicating things. Another important takeaway was the significance of scriptwriting and planning.      Hey, blog! it's me again. Today I will be comparing the short film and the full-length movie of "9". To begin we will talk about the creation of the short film and the full-length movie. 9 was originally a short film by Shane Acker in 2005 and was inspired to become a full-length movie in 2009. In each of the films, the setting is the same in which it is in post-apocalyptic scenery where small puppet creatures who are named after numbers try to survive. There are many similarities and differences between each film. So I will be comparing and contrasting these two films as I experienced watching each of them.      The short film is about 7-10 minutes long, and although it is short it explains the story very well.      Hey, blog! It's me again, today, I'll be comparing a short and a full-length film for my research. I'll be examining La Jetée and 12 Monkeys .      I watched a video that compares 12 Monkeys and La Jetée , and it discussed how the feature film naturally extends the short, building on the original ideas. The video also touched on how both films explore the inevitability of certain events.  In La Jetée , the short film, the protagonist is caught in a loop, unable to change the outcome. In contrast, 12 Monkeys takes this concept further, with the main character attempting to prevent a catastrophic event. The way time is portrayed in both films is crucial to their themes, and the video highlights how this theme is central to both works. The video also showed me how manipulating time plays a critical role in storytelling.
