Movie conventions research: knives out

Hey blog! It’s me again, I will be talking about another movie, this movie is called Knives Out, and this movie came out in 2018.

Elements that were shown in Knives Out that we will be using in our final task will be the sense of suspense and tension, other elements would be plot twists, red herrings, flashbacks, a whodunit type of structure, and just in general the visual style of the film, like the angles that will be taken, the music we decide to use in the film and also the script that will be set up to create the mood. Some convections of mystery that I liked within the movie were the whodunit structure because the movie provides clues, red herrings, and misdirection, making me feel like I was part of the movie too, and I was trying to solve the mystery. Another convection I really enjoy would be the clever plot twist the movie had because even if I thought I knew who did the crime, it took a whole different direction and I was left speechless.

A convection I did not like within this movie was the tone it gave off, the tone the movie gave off was very sarcastic, and it had witty jokes, which I believe took away from the serious tone of the movie that makes people hooked because they do not know what to expect but with a more jokingly type of tone, it makes the audience feel more relaxed. Which I would not like to do in the film, I want to keep it in a more serious, tone

RILEY (19), a babysitter, sits on the couch, lazily scrolling through her phone. LANA (8), a pale and quiet child, sits cross-legged on the floor, drawing in a notebook.   RILEY   (chuckles)   You have been s quiet all   Youâ €™ ve been so quiet all night, Lana. You sure youâ €™re not a robot?     Lana looks up at her, expression unreadable, then flips her notebook to a blank page and scribbles something. She holds it up:     “Sheâ €™s watching.â €     RILEY   (frowning)   Uhâ €¦ whoâ €™s watching?     Lana points toward the dark hallway leading to the bedrooms. Riley follows her gazeâ €”just darkness.     RILEY   Nice try. You trying to freak me out?     Lana shakes her head, eyes wi...

Our Pitch

Pitch A:  three friends get a ride home, one still waits. Who is the man that picks her up? Pitch B: Two friends get lost in a mirror maze but they see death in their reflection For pitch A it would be really interesting filming this, I believe that it would be easier filming this than pitch b. This film would be filmed at night because it adds more of a dangerous tension to the film. What I do not enjoy about this film is that its a basic storyline where the person gets kidnapped by a random car ride. On the other hand pitch b is more unique and creates a better tension. Also choosing a location to film this would be difficult as well. Pitch B would be a really fun film to be filmed. It would take place at a carnival and there will be a killer. We found this pitch be very unique compared to our first. This film would include a lot of tone and facial expressions when being filmed. The only bad thing about this film is that it may be difficult to film due to different availabl...
