Movie convention research: Death on the nile

Hey blog! it’s me again. Last time we discussed genre. Today it's all about movies that have done it. I've watch them and took notes so let's get into this.

Elements that were present in Death on the Nile that we will be using in our film is tension and  suspense. Camera angles such as high angle, low angles, close up, tracking shot and establishing shot were used to develop the storyline.  Jump cuts and montages were some of the editing used. Dialouge that contained information were major clues that pieced the mystery together.Elements of the movie I enjoyed was the usual setting of dark secluded areas and environments. Characters with hidden motives so you didn't know who the killer was until it was revealed to you.  Suspenseful music played adding to the atmosphere of the film through both diegetic and non-diegetic sound. Clues placed throughout using costumes and props.

The elements in the movie that  did not appeal to me was the red herrings. The clues were being produced were at times confusing. The characters also could have been more flushed out so their deaths and secrets would be more drastic.

Production Blog: On set

Hye blog! Its me again. It has been about six days since the last time we filmed. Our first time filming was very successful. I started off todays filming day the same way I started it last time. I texted everyone who is on set to confirm whether they are able to make it or not. I started to head to Marianas house but I ended up arriving late due to traffic issues. Since I was already late I stopped by to get small snacks for everyone so we don't have to stop like we did last time. I let my partner know that I was arriving late and that she could get a head start on the filming. Today the goal was to shoot at least 4 new scenes so we can speed up the process. Unfortunately there were many minor things we have forgotten to include in this task. For instance, we forgot to remind everyone to wear the same costume they had on the first day of filming. Next we forgot to provide our new cast member with a list of items they needed to bring for their character, also we forgot to provide s...

Short film research: A Distorted Doll / Horror

Hey, blog! I'm back, and today, I will continue my research on short films. I'll be researching short films in the horror genre since that is the genre I will be using for my project.  I hope you enjoy it!      In this film, some common CAMS it had to the genre were shot-inverse-shot, POV shot, Tracking shot, and zoom-in. These angles and shots allow the audience to see a representation of the film. It is a part of telling a story and can interact with the audience.      Some common sounds in this film included; were diegetic sounds, such as screaming, creaking, and heavy breathing. Also included non-diegetic sound, for instance, background music of suspense. This short film also carried sound bridges and voiceovers.      Common Mis-en-scene in this film included; dark lighting which sets a certain mood in the audience, bruising on the body which is done with makeup and shows a sign of violence, blood which can...
