Short film research: Knock Knock/ Horror

 Hey, blog! Welcome back to another research blog! Today's short film is called "Knock Knock" and we will be comparing it to the genre of horror.

I hope you enjoy it!

 In this film, some common CAMS it had to the genre were; panning, close-up, tracking shot, continuous shot, over-the-shoulder, bird-eye shot, two-shot, and three-shot. These angles and shots are a part of telling a story and are used to engage the audience's attention

    Some common sounds in this film included; were diegetic sounds, such as screaming, creaking, heavy breathing, and knocking on a door,  Also included non-diegetic sounds, for instance, background music of suspense and unearthly sounds like ghosts and exotic noises that represented the other side of death. Along with this, the short film was big on dialogue.

    Common Mis-en-scene in this film was mainly focused on acting. The three girls had to perfect their acting because it was the most used Mis-en-scene. Besides acting the others were the set and costume.

    Certain editing such as cross-cutting cut away, insert, eye-line match and action match were used in this short film to include many scenes and to also create a suspense feeling in the audience that would make them nervous when watching.

    Examples of films in the genre include;

-Talk to me

- Host

-skinamarink

    Elements I enjoy in the genre are the feeling the Mis-en-scene and editing give you because it gets you anxious. However, in this film, the feeling was horror and also thriller like in the beginning, the songs and the costumes used gave it a good vibe at first and showed a dark side of it.

    Elements I didn't enjoy in the film were the lack of Mis-en-scene and lack of fear sensation, also the predictability level of this film was high.

That's it for today's blog! Until next time. Karina logging off!

Production blog: film review

 Hey blog! its me again. After officially finishing our video I showed my sister and brother the video to hear open comments on what could be fixed. I first showed my sister. After she watched the video the first thing she mentioned was that in some parts the music should go lower than the other ones because of the setting. For example, in the scene where veronica and the kidnapper have an encounter, she told me to lower the music because it could allow my audience to focus more on the dialogue than the music. Another flaw she pointed out was how fast the texts were disappearing so she told me to fix the timing and maybe make the sizes bigger. Finally the last thing she told me was to change where the dissolve was located because it was too close to the fade. These comments helped me a lot. I then went to my brother and he watched the film. Once again, after he finished watch, the first thing he told me was the music changing volumes for more focus on dialogue. He also mentioned ho...

Planning Blog

       Hey blog! it’s me again. BOOM! I am starting the process of creating my first my commercial. First thing that I am going  to do is get my photos. My mom has a whole album of pictures dedicated to each of her kids and their achievements, therefore I will be asking her for the help. For my videos I am going to ask my friends and sisters, they tend to take the most videos of me. I will be also going through my flash drive and camera roll to find photos and videos that show the real me. To find a song that truly fits me, Me and my dog will be listening to a playlist on Spotify of my favorite songs and see which song I sing the most to or describes me in the best way possible. After figuring out my song, I'm going to be filming a video talking about myself, then insert the photos and videos that I have collected. Then I am going to add the music as background just to take the silence away. I will be editing these videos together on Cap Cut, my photos and video...

critical creative reflection

     In this music video I have learned a lot from my groupmate's and technology. The process wasnt easy but it was done. In our music video my group and I decided to challenge the conventions. In the genre most of it follows what the song is saying or shows two scenes but goes back and forth. In our music video we made a script in which we acted out what the song felt like for us. One meaning we had of the song was drifting apart from a relationship and learning to let go, the other was realizing your actions and feeling guilt after. An issue this music video represented was jealousy and how it can come over your actions. The girl (maddie) realized that her friend and boyfriend were cheating behind her back and she took action by drowning the girl. A group this video could affect would be jealous people or people who cheat and lead people on. It could help them to understand how their actions can really affect people from the other side and be considerate. This music vid...
