Hey, blog! Welcome back to another research blog! Today's short film is called "Knock Knock" and we will be comparing it to the genre of horror.
I hope you enjoy it!
In this film, some common CAMS it had to the genre were; panning, close-up, tracking shot, continuous shot, over-the-shoulder, bird-eye shot, two-shot, and three-shot. These angles and shots are a part of telling a story and are used to engage the audience's attention
Some common sounds in this film included; were diegetic sounds, such as screaming, creaking, heavy breathing, and knocking on a door, Also included non-diegetic sounds, for instance, background music of suspense and unearthly sounds like ghosts and exotic noises that represented the other side of death. Along with this, the short film was big on dialogue.
Common Mis-en-scene in this film was mainly focused on acting. The three girls had to perfect their acting because it was the most used Mis-en-scene. Besides acting the others were the set and costume.
Certain editing such as cross-cutting cut away, insert, eye-line match and action match were used in this short film to include many scenes and to also create a suspense feeling in the audience that would make them nervous when watching.
Examples of films in the genre include;
-Talk to me
- Host
-skinamarink
Elements I enjoy in the genre are the feeling the Mis-en-scene and editing give you because it gets you anxious. However, in this film, the feeling was horror and also thriller like in the beginning, the songs and the costumes used gave it a good vibe at first and showed a dark side of it.
Elements I didn't enjoy in the film were the lack of Mis-en-scene and lack of fear sensation, also the predictability level of this film was high.
That's it for today's blog! Until next time. Karina logging off!
