production blog: acting in the film

Hey blog! its me again. During the filming process I was in the film. I was in at least a minute and 15 seconds of the film. It took many tries for me to get certain facial expressions and movements down. An important part of film is facial expressions and body language because it can help guide the audience on the feeling of the character and setting. Due to learning these actions in the moment it took several tries to get the clip down. I kept on messing up and couldn't keep it serious. After awhile I started to adjust to the expressions that were needed. This helped a lot because it was quicker to film and  made it look more natural. Along with this I also talked in the film. The script was improvised in one scene because it had many mess ups. For my first long talking scene it took me at least 8 tries to get it down even though i practiced before. Besides that scene i got my script down for the most part. The script was definitely easier than the facial expressions and body language. I can say with the amount of acting that was being down it was a slow process but you can adapt to it quickly. The motivation and help my groupmates gave me during the process was also helpful. I also helped them because they acted as well. The hardest scene for me to be in was the 30 seconds talking scene and the close ups because it was difficult at times for the camera to be close. While I filmed it became frustrating when people would get into our shots and I would have to refilm. This was probably the most difficult part of filming in a crowded area. The voices also were difficult to hear but that's for another day. That's it for today blog! until next time. Karina logging off.

Production Blog: On set

Hye blog! Its me again. It has been about six days since the last time we filmed. Our first time filming was very successful. I started off todays filming day the same way I started it last time. I texted everyone who is on set to confirm whether they are able to make it or not. I started to head to Marianas house but I ended up arriving late due to traffic issues. Since I was already late I stopped by to get small snacks for everyone so we don't have to stop like we did last time. I let my partner know that I was arriving late and that she could get a head start on the filming. Today the goal was to shoot at least 4 new scenes so we can speed up the process. Unfortunately there were many minor things we have forgotten to include in this task. For instance, we forgot to remind everyone to wear the same costume they had on the first day of filming. Next we forgot to provide our new cast member with a list of items they needed to bring for their character, also we forgot to provide s...

Short film research: A Distorted Doll / Horror

Hey, blog! I'm back, and today, I will continue my research on short films. I'll be researching short films in the horror genre since that is the genre I will be using for my project.  I hope you enjoy it!      In this film, some common CAMS it had to the genre were shot-inverse-shot, POV shot, Tracking shot, and zoom-in. These angles and shots allow the audience to see a representation of the film. It is a part of telling a story and can interact with the audience.      Some common sounds in this film included; were diegetic sounds, such as screaming, creaking, and heavy breathing. Also included non-diegetic sound, for instance, background music of suspense. This short film also carried sound bridges and voiceovers.      Common Mis-en-scene in this film included; dark lighting which sets a certain mood in the audience, bruising on the body which is done with makeup and shows a sign of violence, blood which can...
