Genre blog: Sci-fi

Hey blog! it’s me again!Today I've search the internet to find the common conventions of the genre Sci-fi. So let's get into this.

Common camera angles of Sci-fi include extreme long shot, long shot, bird's eye view, medium long shot, medium shot, close up, extreme close up, Dutch angle, tracking shot, over the shoulder, low angle and high angle.

Mis-En-Scene that are common in Sci-fi include the following. Sets displaying  dystopian future, space and post apocalyptical worlds. Props that are  futuristic and high tech computers, weapons. Makeup that is gory, cybernetic and realistic looking. Costume are  futuristic/ alien tech dystopian usually represent their jobs.

Editing usually brings the movies to life. Major of this being with special visual effects or CGI. The color palette commonly used are cool tone and duller lighting. Jump cuts and cross cutting are used to add suspense.

Common sound used are diegetic sound, voiceovers, ambient sound and sound motif.

This is done to develop the futuristic feel of the movie.

Examples of Sci-fi movies are The Hunger Games, Star Wars and Avatar.

I like the elements that are futuristic and realistic elements which allows the audience to easily to connect to the story. And element I don't particularly like is also how realistic the movies can be as it can feel to  much like real life. And also the gore as I feel it would be too much for our project.

that’s ir for today blog! until next time, karina logging off.

Production Blog: On set

Hye blog! Its me again. It has been about six days since the last time we filmed. Our first time filming was very successful. I started off todays filming day the same way I started it last time. I texted everyone who is on set to confirm whether they are able to make it or not. I started to head to Marianas house but I ended up arriving late due to traffic issues. Since I was already late I stopped by to get small snacks for everyone so we don't have to stop like we did last time. I let my partner know that I was arriving late and that she could get a head start on the filming. Today the goal was to shoot at least 4 new scenes so we can speed up the process. Unfortunately there were many minor things we have forgotten to include in this task. For instance, we forgot to remind everyone to wear the same costume they had on the first day of filming. Next we forgot to provide our new cast member with a list of items they needed to bring for their character, also we forgot to provide s...

Group blog for short film

Hey blog welcome back! Today I will write a blog about my partner I will be working with for my project. I am currently taking A-level media and have a new groupmate. The reason for new groupmates is that my old ones did not continue to take media studies. To introduce my new groupmate, her name is Mariana Wright. I have known Mariana for a while because we went to the same middle school and had other classes together. I decided to work with her because I saw how good of a job she did last year at the AS level and wanted to share ideas with her. Also, I believe working with Mariana would be good because she is very easy to communicate with and also a hard-working person. Along with this, she is also a really fun person to be around. So not only will our project have a good outcome but we will also have fun in the process. Once we began to talk about it we had no clue who we were both going to be working with which is when we decided to work together. We instantly clicked with idea...
